Mr. Cornwell, As a native Tennessean, I grew up near the battlefields of Shiloh, Ft. Donelson, Murfreesboro, Spring Hill, Franklin, Nashville, & Chattanooga. I have always been fascinated with the American Civil War. I just finished “Rebel” and I was very impressed with the historical accuracy and the vivid descriptions of battle scenes and infantry weapons and tactics. You also did a remarkable job of capturing the idealism and zeal that so many Americans possessed during this tragic period of our history. Have you ever read “Co Aytch” by Sam Watkins? It is a memoir of a former confederate soldier from middle Tennessee who as a young private, fought in nearly every major engagement in the Western theatre of the war. It’s one of my all time favorite Civil War books. I can’t wait to start the next Starbuck book, and I hope there are more to come. Any chance that Starbuck might find himself involved in the Western Theatre with the likes of Nathan Bedford Forrest or William T. Sherman? Jonathan
