I recently broke my leg in a hiking accident, and as I was laid up at home this week…finding myself with a sudden abundance of free time on my hands…I decided to re-read the entire Saxon series, one book after another. I must say, the inconvenient nuisance (and dull pain) of a broken limb and utter boredom associated with diminished mobility was soon completely forgotten as I found myself immersed in the historical imagery you present in the time of Alfred the Great and the Danish quest for Wessex. I even found myself following Lord Uhtred’s path, pinpointing the locations on a map of England. As I said, lots of time on my hands…but it was indeed time well spent. Thank you Mr. Cornwell, for taking me on a journey back in time. I patiently await Uhtred’s next campaign!
