Bernard, Your books have entertained me for years, especially the Sharpe series and I always look forward to what you are writing currently. Last week I got The Fort from our library here in Kapa’a on Kaua’i and hate to say this, but I can’t believe you wrote it. To be blunt: it really had no main character to identify with, there were too many characters to keep straight, there was absolutely no intrigue, and the plot? had no real outcome. In contrast the Civil War series was great reading. I even had a vested interested in the book, as my Scottish/English ancestors came to Massachusetts in the late 1600s and some fought in that war.
