My wife and I are avid fans of the Uhtred stories. After reading the first one we took our motorhome for our first ever visit to Northumbria staying at a little farm just outside of Bamburgh. Most of the holiday became Uhtred orientated with us visiting St Cuthberts Cave, Hadrian’s Wall, Durham Cathedral (although I have to say that the wood figurines of the monks carrying St. Cuthbert’s coffin at Bamburgh church is far more impressive and evocative than the bronze version at the cathedral)etc, etc, etc. It may sound odd but we look forward to visiting many of the places mentioned in the books. We’re even going to have a look at Benfleet, somewhere we would never thought of visiting before. Thank you for the stories, we’ve enjoyed every single one of them and they’ve certainly inspired our trips around the UK in our mcamper. Rhys Griffiths
