Just wanted to say thank you really for providing such a wealth of historical literature. As a student of Spanish and History I found your Sharpe series, in particular, a brilliant and enthusing complement to the study of the Peninsula War. I feel this series is so carefully written as to offer a really useful insight into what life was like for those who lived through it. Within this, and what I marvel at most, is that for me Sharpe’s humanity is maintained through countless episodes of near superhuman behaviour and luck. Despite these superhuman qualities and experiences, and cynicism on my part, for me he remains entirely human and the plots believable throughout the series. This is even more impressive considering that the books were not written in chronological order. I too would dearly love to carve a career out of history in this manner if at all possible, in the remote chance that you leave any periods or events unturned! My personal favourite has always been Sharpes Revenge. I thought Azincourt was also marvellous. Similar feats of accuracy and reconstruction made for an immensely enjoyable and unnoticeably educational read. Thank you, your books are inspiring and worth every penny.
