Sorry to nag you again about coins, but it’s your fault! I keep reading your books. In at least two Sharpe books, you refer to a British gold coin with St. George making dragon kebab. The coin exists, but it was struck only after Waterloo (from 1817.) The designer, Benedetto Pistrucci, had meant it to be a huge commemorative medal for Waterloo, but it was impossible to strike it with the technology available. Dies had been for a sales promotion medal, but when it became clear that the large medal would never be struck, the small dies were used as a new reverse for the sovereign, its multiples and divisions. During the Napoleonic wars, the reverse of British god coins was the national coat of arms. Again, if I can help, please let me know. Peter
