I just finished Sharpe’s Devil and very much enjoyed it. It was a nice change of scenery and fitting that Sharpe finally met the Emperor. I must disagree with you that you killed Obadiah off too soon. Sharpe’s Enemy is probably my favorite in the series, and the ending was perfect. What’s the saying that it’s better to leave a party 5 minutes too early as opposed to overstaying your welcome. And Pierre Ducos was a worthy replacement, even if Hakeswill is in a class by himself. A tremendous saga that has given me so much enjoyment.
