As I have read your remarkable books about the life of Uhtred, I have begun to truly understand the brilliance of your writing. It seems Uhtred comes to the story-telling campfires haltingly, even humbly, as he is coaxed in to telling his tale. As i read these passages, I visualize hundreds of us (your readers), reading the same passage, becoming the characters in the book, riveted by the story as we sit around the campfire listening to Uhtred. We are now part of his band, drawn to fire, drawn to the story – his and yours. Now, as the embers have grown cold, and I’m thrilled that we been called, once again, back to the fire for another story – Uhtred’s continuing tale.
