Following up on the audio book comment (15/6/2012)… I bought the printed book (Death of Kings) on pre-order, loved it, and bought the audiobook when I could. I can confirm that the audio version has ‘modern’ pronunciation for the place names, which is inconsistent with earlier versions of audio books in the series. I can’t check if it is consistent with the written version I bought because I leant it to someone!
But I must say i am amazed that you have never listed to the audio versions of your books… You are are a consumate story teller, but you don’t care to listen to how your stories are told?
Are rights to audio sold in the same way as film rights? If they are, then they cannot say ‘unabridged’ when they change things. If they are not then your publisher has a duty to ensure consistency. Very keen to hear your thoughts.
And if I was in the UK, I would be at the Historical Novelists Conference in September, I would be!
