Sir:
I wanted to thank you for your writing of the Sharpes series, I understand that you must get a great many emails to this effect, but I felt that you deserved one more set of accolades from a man you will never meet.
My father bought me the first of the books for Christmas when I was fourteen, and it has become a tradition since to purchase one of your books for me to finish Christmas day in front of the fire, the adventures of Sharpe and Harper were delights for me to read growing up and more recently to re-read as I now have a much better comprehension of the battles and the sub plots.
I have found in today’s world there are very few role models that exist in print for men of all ages, but your style of writing, the way you make men like Sharpe and Harper seem to be demi-gods and yet something every man can achieve in their own way… Well sir I will say simply that I have begun to purchase a complete set of your Sharpe’s books again (mine have become thread bare and creased with each re-reading), these books will be stored until I myself have a son. I want him to grow up with a little bit of the love for your books that my father instilled in me, and not words of a tablet or screen, but honest to goodness books.
I can not give you any higher praise than to tell you that so long as you are willing to write stories and give a mans imagination a place to wander on a lazy afternoon, my father, myself, and my future sons will read your books with wide eyes, half smiles and pure enjoyment in our hearts.
Thank you Sir, for all of the adventures you have inspired and for the adventures you have yet to inspire.
Warmest Regards:
Sean A.R. Yeulet
