I wanted to tell you how much I loved Waterloo. I was so fortunate to have the chance to go to London last week, and my husband surprised me and took me to your book signing, since I am such a huge fan.
I devoured Waterloo. I’ve read a lot of books about the Napoleonic Wars. I publish with a small press here in Utah, and my books have been based during that time, so you know how much research that takes. I’ve read a lot, but not one I enjoyed as much as your Waterloo. I was touched, and fascinated, and you have a way of explaining things so concisely that even though I have researched this era so much, I kept thinking…Oh, that’s what happened, that makes sense.
I thought I would miss Richard Sharpe, but I was sucked in and found the real participants in the battle brought to live beautifully.
Anyway, it was a pleasure to meet you and as much as I love the Sharpe novels, Waterloo is the best thing I’ve read all year.
