bought ‘Waterloo’ this week, because it is written by you and I am a long time fan, and thoroughly enjoyed it. A small point (you probably get fed up with these!) there are several references to 14th Foot Bedfordshire Regt. As an ex Bedford I was puzzled by this because we were the 16th Foot. Google tells me that 14th Foot was indeed Bedfordshire until 1809 ( I hadn’t known that) when it was changed to Buckinghamshire. The 16th Foot was in America and didn’t make it to Waterloo in time.
There is also an index error to Percy’s Regt as 14th Foot whereas he was cavalry and his Regt eventually became 14th Hussars.
Have been in correspondence with Mark Adkin and he confesses that the numbering is a very confusing area.
Nevertheless a magnificent read and I remain a very firm fan.
