I just finished “The Empty Throne”. The description of the Vikings and Ireland was appropriate for me. I had just finished the nonfiction book, “Britain Begins” by Barry Cunliff and my wife and I had been discussing his coverage of how little an inroad the Norse had made into Ireland and why.
In fact your books like The Saxon Tales and the Arthur books helped me be better prepared to get more from Cunliff’s book.
You are historian first & novelist after that. I eagerly await your book on Waterloo, a battle which I have gamed and walked that field outside of Brussels.
