As someone born in Tamworth 75 years ago, raised in Tamworth, schooled in Tamworth (our School song begins’Tamworth, heart of Mercia’s kingdom, Home of many a Saxon king’..) I can only say a huge ‘thank you’ for the Saxon books. Did you know there is a statue of Ethelfleda and her nephew Athalston in the grounds of Tamworth castle?? Very proud of Ethelfleda, is Tamworth ! I always felt that I grew up alongside the Saxons !!
