I was a history major in college and before I selected the Enlightenment as my area of interest I read a great deal of military history.  I hated it.  I could never picture, from the text books I was reading, the tactics used in a battle of the strategy of the battle.  Then along comes Sharpe.  Now I see those battles almost as a ballet.  They are so clear.Clearer for me than for the participants.  I am proud to admit that I have read all of the Sharpe books (and most of your other works) and I am, not for the first time re-reading them.  I am in Denmark now having just finished with Trafalgar.  So again, thank you both for the understanding of Wellington’s battles and for the hours of pure joy you have given me.  One day I will take a long vacation and I will go to all the battlefields of Spain and Portugal (but not India I think) and I will think of Sharpe and Harper at each one of them.
