I just finished ‘The Empty Throne’ and after reading all your various works relative to England, came to the conclusion I needed to do more genealogy work. This last book actually opened my eyes to the numerous groups of people and their timelines and wondered, just who am I.
My last name is Parkes and my Maternal line on my father’s side is comprised of Swind, Eastwood, Henderson, Sharp, Proctor, Cooksey, Jordan, Morgan Llewwellin and several unknown females back to England around 1620. On my mothers side it begins with Percy and moves to Kendall/Carey (grandmother), Taylor, Greene, Rouse, Collins, Newell, Sweet, back to roughly 1749 to Capt John Percy in the Revolutionary war and a deadend.
Yes, I know, rather boring, but a mix of some of those groups you describe in your books that leaves me feeling like a true Englishman, whatever that may be.
