I have only just discovered the Warrior Chronicles and am now tearing through them at a rate of knots (although I really don’t want them to EVER end!). I read a lot but it’s been a long time since I’ve found anything which has this level of appeal for me. I’m not quite sure how it is that I have come to like such a hard nosed, bloodthirsty, murderous hero as Uhtred but you have performed magic with the character in the writing of this series. He’s just – well – so humorous, too! (I also loved the matter of fact way that Gisela asks Uhtred how long it will take him to kill Harald and all his men as if he were just popping out to the pub for an hour!). Just brilliant!
I shall certainly be reading more of, no, ALL your work in future. I am so pleased that the Last Kingdom is to be televised. I hope you have a lot of involvement in the production as I’m not sure it can live up to your (or my) vision in the books. I do hope so.
Finally, many thanks for the hours of pleasure that your books are giving me. Please don’t stop writing when you have enough money. I’m sure you’ve heard it hundreds of times before but you really are the best of writers.
