Sir
having a large collection of ”Waterloo ” literature, including Mark Adlins Waterloo Companion, may I compliment you on your superb telling of the battle.
Waterloo is a complex mixture of charge , counter charge, times are sometimes vague ,some decisions difficult to understand [ particularly Ney’s ] and many more complexities making most narrations confusing .
However your meticulous relating of the battle is a work of a writer who knows and understands the decisions of generals and officers, the movement of troops etc etc . It is a work every person beginning a study of Waterloo should make number one read , so that the pieces of the puzzle in subsequent books will be more readily understood.
many thanks ,sir , a pity it was not five hundred pages more .
regards
Peter Gaskin
