I am a dockbuilder living on Martha’s Vineyard. My MacEwen Clan is petitioning the Lord Lyon to hold a family convention to look into appointing a chief . We were run out of Otter Ferry, on the shores of Loch Fyne, in 1493 by the Campbells. James IV was sailing past us ,around this time, consolidating power. There is a bit of a mystery surrounding how we actually lost our land, now Ballimore Estate. My wife and I made our second visit to Scotland this summer and met with an armiger of Clan Ewen, John of Marchmont. A good man, and now a friend, he is one claiming the chieftainship.I am wondering in your research if you ever brushed past anything obscure that might bear on James IV doings at this time and place , especially around Kintyre? We are trying to connect to William Ewing at Langside in 1568 as the probable last chief. I’m trying to be brief.
