I hope you don’t mind me troubling you with a question. I am completing my first book – and you being an historical novelist – I know could help me. After exhaustive research, I have just completed a long historical novel (1920’s) about British aviation. It is based on true events and has some fictional characters as well as real characters ranging from the Prime Minister to ministers of state down to crewmembers. It is based on true tragic events. I have taken the essence of people’s characters and exaggerated and dramatized it all. My question is whether or not I should change all the names. It might lose some impact if i do.
