Dear Mr Cornwell

I am a fast reader but the speed with which I read has recently increased so that your latest book lasted just two days. I think I have read all your books and must, I suppose, now wait a further year for the next one. I re-read your books and watch the Sharpe series whenever it is on TV during the yearly lull in new publication output. I have marched across Spain, guided by Mark Adkin’s The Sharpe Companion, re-winning battles and actions with Sharpe in the heat of summer. Reading of Sharpe and Uhtred has given me an appetite for the programmes on Discovery Channel that explore the Saxon period and the development of English polity.

I know it takes much time to carry out the research that ensures the tales fit the times they  portray but I must urge, without a loss of quality, a much higher rate of output, if you please. I am in my eighties and although taking steps to keep myself fit mentally and physically for the next Uhtred tale which you promise in the most recent book, you can see why there may be some urgency for the next book if Uhtred is to pass to Valhalla before I do.

Best wishes for 2019 in the hope that your output will at least double

Best regards

Mike St Martin
