Years of family research, including the Royal Armoury over in the UK, have established the probability that my many-times-great maternal uncle was a junior officer with the 51st Light Infantry at the time of Waterloo. That being the case, he would surely have been there. That has led me to a lot of research from the Web (largely garbage) to the unreadable scholastic to the war-is-fun crowd.  Nothing has satisfied my instincts as much a Mr. Cornwell’s “Waterloo”. I suspect that many-times-removed uncle would have related to this much more as contemporary reportage than historical fiction. I will read it again many times.
