A reader mentioned a television programme featuring Hadrian’s Wall in a recent question, and you replied that you hoped they mentioned the Antonine Wall too. I’m curious about this. I know the wall was planned, originally in stone, to move the border north of Hadrian’s Wall but it was only manned for a few years after it was completed, and for a further short period about 50 years later. Is there more to this, that I’m missing?
