Hello Mr. Cornwell,
I just finished reading (literally 5 minutes ago) Warlord and I want to thank you for providing me with countless hours of entertainment. Prior to reading Warlord (a 47 birthday present to myself) I re-read the whole series. I swear I have read that first book 5 times by now! I have enjoyed your other books but find myself coming back to Uhtred and Finan. As a much younger reader, I got sucked into Tolkien’s world through The Hobbit and immersed myself in the more fanciful wold of knights and elves (they were my favorite) and went more into the fantasy realm from there. When I read your books and learned more of the historical reality of the times again I was hooked. The smells and the horrors of the shield wall are things I would not want to experience! But I am much older now, and shield walls are a young mans’s game!
I don’t want to take more of your time but just want to thank you one more time. It has been an absolute pleasure spending time with you and your memorable characters. I am sure I will visit them again in a while.
