I wanted to thank you for the Saxon Stories and everything you’ve done for me. I first started with The Winter King back in late 1997. I was looking for a King Arthur series that didn’t have the fluff and The Winter King was everything I could have hoped for. I read the entire Warlord Chronicles twice.
I have since consumed every book you have released since and before that. I quickly identified with the characters growing up as Chaplin’s son and an Army brat. I was picked on in high school. Derfel and others showed me that being an outcast and unique was okay. They’ve also shown me that no obstacle is insurmountable. There’s usually a solution to be found for any dire situation.
This has helped me as I’ve found my way in IT security. 22 years later, I manage a security team of engineers, and hackers. Which is not too dissimilar from the groups of people each of your characters has led. I have railed and questioned the status quo at work. That has brought me great success and some headaches as a result. I believe a lot of that is influenced by the books I’ve read by you throughout my career. Again, thank you.
I hope you continue to write and provide compelling stories. Whether it be in a series or one-offs. I was super excited that the Last Kingdom was created by the BBC and picked up by Netflix. My only hope is that some realizes how great The Warlord Chronicles is and creates a live-action series out of that.
