Dear Mr Cornwell.

I have just finished War Lord and would like to say thank you for such an amazing ending to a fabulous series of books that I feel very privileged to have read.  The first book in the series was given to me as a gift for my birthday many years ago and after I started reading it I jumped online and brought all the books in the series that were available at that time and then preordered and anxiously awaited each of the next installments so that I would always have my next dose of Uhtred and his warriors as soon as each book was released.

I have loved reading each book and have laughed at the banter and one liners between characters and gasped when others have meet their fate and become just a memory as the series has gone on.  As a teacher in a small secondary rural school in New Zealand I value the time I have to spend reading for pleasure and while sad that the series has come to an end I am so grateful to have been able to follow the adventures of Uhtred and his Warriors as my night time reading over the last few years.

It is been great to be able to recommend this series to many of my students to read.

At our school we display the book we are currently reading on our office or classroom door and it has not gone unnoticed that I have been reading a Bernard Cornwell book for the last five years straight. (I also read the Arthur  Series, the Grail Series, Stonehenge, Agincourt…well just about everything  and those I haven’t I am adding to my collection and working my way through.

I also asked our Librarian at school to get in the Last Kingdom series to encourage our boys to read as they contain all the necessary elements many of them require to make a book appealing such as battle, betrayal and going on an adventure to back up a ‘mate’.

Once again thank you for creating this amazing series and my best wishes go out to both yourself and Judy for a safe and happy 2021.

Your Sincerely
