Dear Mr Cornwell

Whilst I have found all your historical novels very enjoyable, I believe that The Last Kingdom series has captured my interest to the greatest extent. Perhaps it’s because I spent my formative years in the ‘town’ of Southall, now in west London, before being moved to the village of Hockley in Essex. None too far from Thundersley. I knew Bread and Cheese Hill and Canvey Island quite well. It was pure chance that my next, and final, move was to the village of Badshot Lea, just outside Farnham in Surrey.. I did not discover your books until after all that had taken place.

I have taken on board your wish not to have suggestions made, but a great interest of mine is the Roman Empire. Not limited to the conquest and occupation of Britain. If it ever occurs to you, I would be very interested in your view on that period from either the British or Roman perspective. Mostly, I think, because I don’t see any sign of forcing 20th/21st century attitudes on to characters.

There. Not a suggestion, but simply idle electronic doodling.
