Mr Cornwell,
how in the world have I just discovered you? I am a great fan of history and historical fiction. I have read Forester and O Brian, being a former sailor, I love the romance, if not the reality, ( scurvy, floggings, shot swept decks) of the Napoleonic Wars. I suppose that the Lobsters did their bit just as well as did Hornblower. In any case, in hunting for an audio book to listen to on a work trip recently, somehow I came up with Sharp’s Eagle.
And was amazingly, immediately hooked. I m pulled into the action, as well as the very human side of Richard , and am delighted to see that I have dozens of books ahead of me to read. Audio books are fine, in their place, but will never have the same allure as holding one in my hands, with a fine glass of Scotch alongside, and settling for a good read. Then, reluctantly, placing the finished book on the shelves, and starting the next.
I look forward to the journey.
Kind regards
Doug Smith
