Dear Mr. Cornwell – This is a note to say, simply: thank you.
About 3 years ago, I wanted to make an intentional effort at reading more and build a strong reading habit. After a couple good books, I was enjoying reading but still not absorbed in it. Then, I stumbled across The Winter King. It was the book that made me fall in love with books, in general. After that, I read a lot of books and found myself enjoying reading in a way I hadn’t before.
Then, about 2 years ago, I wanted to revisit the trilogy and see where the story went. I read Enemy of God which is now my favorite book I have ever read. Finally, this past year, I finished the journey with Excalibur, which I could not put down – I had my Kindle open over breakfast, at the office, standing around waiting for the train…
I realized, when I finished, that no work of art has sparked joy for me the way The Warlord Chronicles did. I asked Santa (a.k.a. my wife) for a hardcopy of the trilogy because I so desperately wanted to hold those books. Thankfully, they arrived just after Christmas. I was so moved. I think she was surprised at how emotional I was in opening that present, and I’ll tell her what I told you: I did not know it was possible for someone to love a piece of art as much as I love your Warlord Chronicles.
These books gave me something I didn’t know I could have. They are beautiful, powerful, and enthralling beyond words. I cannot wait to read them again and again. And I cannot thank you enough for having given these books to the world.
If it’s still a possibility, I’d love to mail you one for an autograph! It would mean so much. But of course no worries either way. At the very least, I simply wanted to express my gratitude and tell you that your words were among the most incredible things I have come across in my life.
