Good Evening.

I saw a question about Serpent Breath in ‘Your Questions’ earlier today, and thought I might ba able to add something. Saxon swords were generally similar to Norse (Viking) blades and both were probably derived from the Roman spatha. This was originally issued to cavalry auxiliaries, but largely replaced the shorter gladius as an infantry weapon by the late 2nd/early 3rd century.
