I wanted to thank you and tell you a quick story what role your writing played in my life.
After reading all 13 books of The Saxon Tales I became a little obsessed with that time period and the place because of the way you wrote it. It felt like I was living there.
So when on Hinge ( a dating app) one of the prompts was to recommend a series or a book you like, I highly recommended The Saxon Tales and The Last Kingdom show. It happened that the man I was writing to also saw and read them. His first reply was- Destiny is all!! He didn’t know Bamburgh castle still existed and it was the first subject we connected over and that’s how we started dating. I even baked Scottish cakes regularly inspired by Alfred’s baking endeavors during his stay on the swamps.
Last week ( eight months after we started dating) we visited the Bamburgh castle together!! It was so special since I dreamed of visiting Northumbria after I read your books. We live in Chicago so it was a big trip for us.
