I have been a fan of your characters for as long as I can remember. I watched the TV adaptations of Sharpe as a boy and started reading your books as soon as I felt confident to do so. I have read nearly everything you have done less The Starbuck Chronicles which I now have good to go!
I’m not saying you’re the main reason for me joining the Army as my father also served however my decision to be a Rifleman is most certainly your doing! Whilst in Afghan we had a little library going in our checkpoint where unsurprisingly quite a few of your books featured – I still remember the day I finished Sharpe’s Devil whilst in the back of a Mastiff vehicle out there -sad times although my family did send out The Warrior Chronicles!
I’m ashamedly not someone who usually voices his opinions on forums such as this but due to your influence I feel it’s deserved. Thank you for all your toils and tribulations!
