My brother and I have enjoyed reading your books immensely over the last few years. We have both especially enjoyed Uhtred of Bebbanburg and The Saxon Tales. Out of all the characters from your works he is the one that we can relate to best. I’d say he has definitely helped and motivated the both of us over the years. I’m not positive, but I’d be willing to bet that Uhtred and Richard Sharpe are both responsible for my brother and me being in the military. Richard Sharpe is also the reason I enlisted after college instead of becoming an officer. I do not regret my decision, in fact I think it has helped me quite a bit.
Your books, specifically The Saxon Tales, inspired me to get my bachelors in history with a minor in anthropology. I have to admit that anytime I had to write an essay for one of my classes and was stumped or not very excited about it I would try to find a book of yours that would roughly match the time period. After reading your book I would be much more motivated to finish my research for the paper and complete the essay. So I greatly appreciate the fact that you have helped me to maintain a high level of interest in history.
