Dear Mr Cornwell,
I know you receive thousands (probably tens) of messages every week so I will make this brief in the vain hope one of your staffers will deem it of enough interest to pass it to you in a summary of your latest web traffic.
Subject
I have just read The Pagan Lord, my wife bought it for me for Christmas, and as previously with the Warlord Chronicles I read it with my usual level of semi-boredom tipped with hopeful anticipation, and then the last three pages destroyed me. How can you write that? I write military history myself and seek a fragment of what you achieved in those three pages.
I never liked Uhtred as I loved Derfel, but then suddenly he was someone else and yet the same – if could ever write a fraction as well as those three pages it would make me smile.
Thank you for those three pages (and for Derfel).
regards
Jon Trigg
