Ian Rankin and Inspector Rebus don't need any introduction to British readers who know that this dour Edinburgh detective is the brightest thing to hit crime fiction in a long time. He's becoming better known in the Sttes too, which is great - and if you haven't heard of him then you have many treats ahead.
