Bernard, I felt compelled to write as I have been absolutely bowled over by your novels. I was a regular HM Forces soldier for 15 years and I’ve served in Bosnia amongst other places. Perhaps that is why I can empathise (a little) with the stories. But what has really surprised me is how keen I’ve become to read. I never used to read any books, but now I love reading. I’ve read the Grail series and I’m on to the Saxons and Sword Song at the moment. Uhtred is such a fantastic character. As well as inspiring me to read, you have also inspired me to take a renewed interest in History, so you have much to answer for (my wife might say!). So a big thank you. One other point I hope you will excuse me for asking, is for perhaps a letter (email) of support for better recognition for our Armed Forces. I believe such a symbol will help families pass on military links and preserve History for the future. Please browse the site http://nationaldefencemedal.webs.com/., the UK is alone in refusing this kind of basic recognition. Well thank-you again for reading through my ramblings. Very best wishes, Tony
