What a lot of fun this website is. A few months ago the local PBS station showed one of the Sharpe TV shows and that reminded me how much I had enjoyed the books, so I started re-reading and eventually found this site. Sharpe’s Story was a lot of fun because I enjoy reading an author’s thoughts about their characters, and reading other fans’ comments adds to the pleasure, so thank you, Mr. Cornwell, for taking the time this site requires, and to the fans for commenting. Just now I’m somewhere on the Temes with Uhtred on his way to meet Haesten, and I’m torn between racing through The Burning Land to find out what happens next and imposing a little self-discipline to make it last as I see I’ll have to wait over a year for the next installment. I’ll echo the comments of so many others here: faster, please. I have learned that I must swallow any beverage I’m drinking before reading the next sentence, and here’s why (from The Burning Land): “…instead I burned the wooden god and his wooden cross and mixed their ashes with crushed apples, that I fed to my two sows. I worship Thor.” Great stuff.
