Bernard, I have read and enjoyed all of your books and find it impossible to say which was best. The last one, perhaps, which was The Burning Land. I was sorry not to be able to attend one of your events in England this year. But, there’s always next year. My main reason for writing is that I just read that you “wish to hell” that you’d left a certain villain “alive for other books!”. No, no, no! In my opinion Sharpe would have lost all credibility if you hadn’t killed this person off. I thought he survived too long, but then I did read the books in chronological order and realise that he was killed in a book written book before the Indian ones. Subsequent books are none the worse for his not being there and would have been much poorer by his continued presence. All in all, it was a good decision. Regards. Mike
