Dear Mr. Cornwell: Thank you so much for the advice on your site about writing and feeling better about what you write. I followed your lead in “taking apart” three novels to see how they were put together (two of yours, one by Steven Pressfield). I found that I could see, if I squinted hard, the skeleton on which the story was hung, and it was extremely liberating. If I ever write anything half so fun as, well, any of yours, I shall be be very satisfied. I’m looking forward to reading “Sharpe’s Story” (and The Burning Land, when it comes to the U.S.) Again, thank you. I’ve read a dozen books on writing, but your brief advice may be the most useful I’ve read in the sense that it actually motivated me to write. With regards, Scott Nolan
