Mr. Cornwell, I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say how amazingly appreciative I am of your work. I started reading your Sharpe’s books and stumbled into the Warlord trilogy last year from an uncle who didn’t appreciate them. They’re absolutely amazing – true works of genius. It all really resonates with me, and I cannot express how exciting and joyful it’s been to read your stories. I’ve also absolutely loved reading the Uhtred stories. In the beginning he felt far too similar to Derfel, but as the story progressed he took on a real life of his own, and his harsh and crueler side brings a realism to the character that I quite enjoy. I’ve absolutely loved them, and can’t express how excited I was at the end of the third book to realize it wasn’t a trilogy but would continue on. I haven’t read Sword Song yet, but I do hope it’s not your last foray into medieval Britain. I’d like to also express my appreciation for how friendly you are to your fans. Far too many authors sound like stuffy old men who’d like to be left alone. I’m sure you’d also like to be left alone much of the time, but after reading through your FAQ it’s exciting to see an author who appreciates his fans and is as excited about his works as they are. :) That’s all for me – I just wanted to write you a small bit of encouragement and let you know how much I’ve appreciated your work. Thanks again so much for taking the risk to write. RJ
