I just finished The Last Kingdon in an audiobook read by Tom Sellwood. I must say that I enjoyed that so much; the words took on more color when pronounced by someone who has a much better idea than I would. I then read Pale Horseman and liked that very much too. Listening to the first book helped me read the names in the second. But, the audiobook had an unintentioned benefit. When reading parts of Pale Horsemen, I got into a bit of a hurry to see what happened next and found that I was rushing through my reading and missing some of the word pictures that you draw. The audiobook format took me through all of the words and painted a vivid picture in my mind. Really a marvelous 12 hours of listening. I am waiting for Lords of the North, and have asked Amazon UK if I can order it for US delivery; I don’t want to wait until January 2007. In the meantime, I am going to start on the Sharpe Books; those should keep me busy for a while. I have read a couple of them, but not in order. And I will look for audiobooks too, because you are a beautiful writer and I want to enjoy the words and not rush to get through all of the Sharpe books. I will enjoy reading all of your past books while I wait for you to write more. I am only sorry that Uhtred will have to end his quest at some point, perhaps in Lords of the North. It is a fascinating time in history and he is a terrific character. I also plan on reading the non-fiction you have recommended. I am 53 and in good health, so hopefully I can get through all this reading before I am 90 years old. Pity that I have to go to work and take time out from reading. Please take very good care of yourself; we need more books from you. One of your many fans Rose Zapel
