I have read all the books you have written except the Sharpe series. I am now in the middle of The Pale Horseman. This may very well be your best series yet – looking forward to the next book. ps what about Nathan Starbuck series , will he ride again? Brian Falk

Dear Bernard, First of all thank you for all your books, I believe I have read them all (including ‘Sharpes Christmas’ and ‘Skirmish’), Currently reading ‘Pale Horseman. Wonderful. At the risk of defying the prime directive, (suggesting a subject), I wonder what has happened to Nathaniel Starbuck ? I am sure that he must have featured at Gettesburg and I cannot think at a more suitable person to be leading Picket’s Charge, he might even be one of the few who reached the road. As a prisoner he might even have heard the address?? With many thanks, keep up the great work. David Brewin.

I just finished listening to the Recorded Books Starbuck novels. I have always been a European history buff, but your wonderful novels gave me an understanding and interest in Civil War history. Your battle scenes made me feel as if I were in the thick of Bull Run and Antietam. I know you are very busy with the Sharpe series, but could you please write more Starbuck series? I would love to read about the whole Civil War through the eyes of Nathaniel, such a clever twist to help a Northerner like myself understand what it must have been like during that terrible war. All my best wishes, Janet Dresser
