I read somewhere that the actor Christopher Lee has read Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings every year for the past 40-odd years, and that is what I am working toward with the Warlord Chronicles. I have so many interests and reading projects going that I can scarcely afford to reread many books, but I cannot help myself where your Arthur series is concerned. With every reading they are as fresh and exciting as my first time through; I still get absorbed in the tale and involved with the characters, even though I know what is coming. I can tell from the comments of other readers that I am not alone; among the others who have named their children Derfel or Seren, I have a sweet little cat named Ceinwyn. She may just be a cat to the rest of the world, but to me she is the Star of Powys (well, the star of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, anyway), a pretty little thing who deserved to be named after a princess. As for the new Sharpe TV mini-series; I am from the US and can only keep track of Sean Bean’s doings by watching the Internet Movie Database for his new projects. As I read the plot summary for Sharpe’s Challenge I thought “hm, sounds a bit like Sharpe’s Tiger modified to suit an older Sean.” I hope the screen writer took your suggestions. So these were more comments than questions, but I wanted to let you know that your work has meant a great deal to me. There is nothing so interesting as good historical fiction, and you are the master of your craft; you have sent me off on many reading frenzies…about Wellington, the 100 Years War, and Arthur, Dux Bellorum. I am a little ashamed to admit that I have not read The Starbuck Chronicles yet (especially being an American who has always had an interest in our Civil War), but I have them at the ready. I’m looking forward to the US release of the Pale Horseman next month. At first I saw shades of Derfel in Uhtred, but no matter; his story quickly became his own, and this series is bound to be one you will be as proud of as the Warlord Chronicles. You’re still young…please…never stop writing!!! Ruby Weber
