Last one from me for a bit Bernard! i try not to bother you too often…

Just finished War of the Wolf and its up to your usual standards…

i think you’ve been a bit of a Loki though, playing Tricks! (Spoilers ahead for anyone who has not read it!) You implied to me and someone else that Sigtryggr was going to “get it”, and all that stuff about the “Three Kings, two of whom will die!” had me waiting for it! Even on the last damn page i was thinking Skoll would strike back and he and Sigtryggr would kill each other. I now realise the Second King  to Die is Edward.

I am ready for Sigtryggr’s Death and know you will give “The God of War” a Death worthy of him.

What happened to Skoll’s Polar Bear Cloak though? i rather hope Sigtryggr claimed it. “Suits you, sir!”

Poor Skart though!  i love the Man-Monsters, like him and Steapa!

The real reason i’m typing to you is i was delighted to realise who Berg’s brother is! Egiil Skalagrimmson, his own self! Have you read Egil’s Saga? i’m guessing you have.  i read it many years ago, but do vaguely remember that he was in England, doing some fighting.

i remember  that In the Saga Egil does kill a Berzerker, and rather easily  too, and that his father  Skallagrim was supposed to be able to turn into a bear! i was never sure if that meant he too was a Berzerker, or that the people of Norway believed he could actually shape-shift into a bear. i prefer that idea! i’d quite like to be able to turn into a bear…

i really want to reread Egil’s Saga, but I’ve read War of the Wolf and Pale Horseman before Christmas, so i think i need a break from Vikings. Maybe something more placid, like Wind in the Willows….?

Until next time

Thank you  for always giving me a great read!

Kindest regards

Matt
