Good day Mr. Cornwell,

Let me say straightaway that you are one of the few authors (the others being J.R.R. Tolkien, Frederick Forsyth, Stephen Lawhead, Michael Crichton and Terry Pratchett), whose books once I’ve started reading, have found them near impossible to put down. I’ve read each of the first three books of The Last Kingdom series in less than three days, despite working a full time job and having other responsibilities. However, I have noticed that there is a small error in The Pale Horseman.

When Leofric visits Uhtred and they decide to go Viking while the Heahengel is repaired, the ship they use is the Eftwyrd, which they disguise and rename the Fyrdraca. However, on page 308, it is stated that Uhtred takes “the men who had fought with me in the Heathengel when she had been the Fyrdraca.”

However, this error aside, has in no way detracted from the excellence of your storytelling and has not dampened my enthusiasm for the series, as I plan to get all the remaining books as fast as I can get them.
