Dear Mr. Cornwell I’m sure that you hear and receive a lot of mail applauding and hailing your books! for the great workmanship that they are! so I hope that it will not bore you if I add my own appreciation to the list! just so you know, I am a 26 year old American man so I hope I don’t sound to childish in my praises. I have read 6 of your books, one being sword song and the other 5 from the great Sharpe series! I don’t know any other way to say it but I enjoyed each one thoroughly! your ability to create the picture in the readers mind with great detail, yet maintaining an interest in the story for the next development was most impressive! so much to the fact that in your book “Sharpe’s eagle” at the battle of Talavera when Sharpe and Harper charge in to take the eagle from the french. as soon as I was done reading through the experience I immediately went back and read it again. I wanted to do the same thing in Sharpe’s triumph when Sharpe protected Wellesley at the battle of Assaye. speaking of that book! on a side note, I must admit I was rather sorry that Sargent Hakeswill wasn’t smashed by the elephant! oh well that is what makes a story so good when your able to experience emotion through simple reading! I hope that as I practice my own writings that I will eventually reach a level as yours! I am continuing on with the rest of the sharp series and have just learned about your new book the fort, and am excited to read it as well, once I complete the others! also I would like to mention how much I appreciate and enjoy your chapters at the end of each book that explains the truths behind each story! it is truly wonderful to learn about history in the way you give it to us! thanks again for these wonderful stories! and my best wishes to you and your family, may god be with you always. sincerely Reef Brague.
