Mr. Cornwell:

I have been an avid reader of many of your books for sometime. In particular the Holy grail series,1356 and Agincourt. More to the point recently I decided to locate and re-read the Last Kingdom and the Pale Horseman. A little time on Google revealed that there are 13 novels in this series. It is my intent to acquire all 13. At present I have begun the fifth  one, the Burning Land. Others are on order from Amazon.

While I am a retired lawyer (there were more than one lawyer in my community and I fear I have become fat), My degrees are in history and my passion is reading history (as long as it is well written), biography, and historical novels.  Now I am fascinated by pre-Norman history, and the Saxon Chronicle series is a marvelous portal into that time. I enjoy the stories, the recurring characters and your author’s notes at the end of each volume in which you advise how you have tinkered with the history in support of your craft.

Thank you for your work.  I recognize had a great deal of scholarship and research must underpin What you are doing and have done. I will not suggest any stories or plot lines for you to undertake, mindful of your concern about people of my ilk circling like Danes around a helpless Saxon village.  The last thing I need is a war axe wielded by Steapa in my skull. I prefer to have the good wishes of Lord Uhtred, Father Becoca, Ragnar and even King Alfred.

Again, thank you. Be safe and be well.
