Having considered myself quite the efficianado of high fantasy, I never expected to pick up a novel by an author I'd never heard of and be so captivated. The first book in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series is nothing short of literary enchantment for any reader who loves adventure, political intrigue, mystery, chivalry, and murderous ambition. The world of Westeros is filled with incredibly colorful and elaborate characters whose exploits will have you turning pages and, much like myself, counting the days until the next installment is released. A MUST READ!
