GODS AND GENERALS

This book is awesome. Before I read this book, I had some doubts about reading historical fiction. Especially something about the Civil War. The Civil War didn't interest me as much as other wars and it still doesn't interest me today, but this book just drew me in. It talks about Ulysses S. Grant and Stonewall Jackson and every other important person in the Civil War. It portrays their struggles and the author depicts the battle scenes just as well as Bernard Cornwell. I grew attached to the characters and were rooting for them at every turn. Gods and Generals was the first historical fiction book that I have ever read. It sparked my interest in history and thanks to this book, I was drawn into reading Sharpe's Havoc, the first book I read of the Sharpe series. I highly recommend this book.
