I am surprised this is not on here as it is one of the best historical novels of all time (in my opinion). It is the story of John Blackthorne who ends up in the middle of fueding Japanese warlords in the sixteenth century. Love, war and samurai - in one word brilliant. His other novels are highly recommended as well.
